ExSeed Home Sperm Test Kit (5 tests)

•  A 2-test kit is perfect if you only want a snapshot of your sperm health. We follow the WHO guidelines and recommend a minimum of two tests to prevent any irregularity in the results.
• A 5-test kit will not only allow you to see your current sperm health, but it will be able to show the improvements as you implement the recommended changes from our app over a few months. The 5 test kits are cheaper per test than the 2-test kit and come with a free fertility cookbook.
• A 10-test kit will allow you to track your sperm health changes over a year period. It also works out cheapest per test and comes with a free fertility cookbook & a free fertility guide.

In order to test your semen, your doctor will ask you to provide a semen sample. Normally, you ejaculate into a collection cup in a room at your doctor’s office. The sample is then assessed under a microscope, which will give useful information about the specific functions of your sperm cells  (i.e. the likelihood of a sample resulting in a pregnant partner). Normal sperm tests track the volume (amount of semen), concentration (how many sperm cells you have per milliliter of semen, motility (the amount of moving sperm cells), and total motile sperm count (the total amount of moving sperm cells in one ejaculate). Some male fertility tests additionally assess features like morphology (the appearance of sperm cells), pH, color, the presence of other cell types and liquefaction time.

The ExSeed Home Sperm Test provides you with: Volume, concentration, motility and the total motile sperm count, which is similar to what many clinics assess. This is because the total motile sperm count is the one number that has been most highly associated with chance of pregnancy (1).

The most common diagnoses for a semen analysis include: Hypospermia: If there is a low volume Oligospermia: If there is a low amount of sperm cells Azoospermia: If there are no sperm at all Asthenozoospermia: If there is a large amount of sperm cells that does not move Teratozoospermia: If there is a large amount of abnormal sperm cells. Leukospermia: If there is a large amount of round cells/white blood cells in the sample. Necrospermia: If there is a large amount of dead sperm cells.

How Much Semen Do I Need For One Test?

You need enough fluid to fill the collection cup properly more than 1.5 ml is considered normal volume. The ExSeed app and leaflet will guide you using a volume indicator. Even if the sample is modest, as long as it meets the minimum volume, the system can still analyse motility and concentration.

Is This Considered Advanced Fertility Technology Or Just A Counter Gadget?

It is advanced fertility technology built on optics and validated scoring, not a toy. The system measures motion and sperm concentration rather than relying on a colour guess. Scores align with WHO anchors people use in lab tests.

ExSeed is currently the only at-home sperm test assessing the total motile sperm count. This count is important because some other at-home sperm tests will fail to inform about common causes of male infertility. Our system is built to be easily shared with us or your doctor, making it possible to get a second opinion on your result. The ExSeed Home Sperm test uses microscopy which is what is also used in the clinic as the golden standard. This also means that you will get a nice recording of your swimmers. Our customer support is available to help you if you should experience any issues while testing or if you were in doubt if it was performed correctly.

ExSeed achieves over 95% agreement with advanced laboratory equipment for the sperm-health parameters it assesses. Our system uses microscopy—the same core method used in fertility clinics—to analyse your sample and provide detailed insight into your sperm health.

ExSeed is currently the only at-home sperm test to assess total motile sperm count: the total number of moving sperm in your sample. This important measure combines semen volume, sperm concentration and motility to provide a more complete picture than basic at-home tests that assess only a single count or threshold.

For an added layer of confidence, every completed test is manually reviewed by an ExSeed fertility expert. This human quality check helps confirm that the test was performed correctly and provides additional reassurance around your result. Because the test creates a recording of your sample, our team can review what was captured and support you if anything appears unclear or you have questions about the testing process.

Your results and report can also be shared with your doctor or fertility clinic, making it easier to seek a professional second opinion or have a more informed conversation about your next steps.

ExSeed also participates in the UK National External Quality Assessment Service (UK NEQAS) programme, demonstrating strong alignment with reference laboratory measurements.

Together, advanced analysis, over 95% agreement with advanced laboratory equipment for the sperm-health parameters assessed, and expert manual review provide detailed, reliable sperm-health insights from home.

Most home sperm tests are very simple tests that are easy to use. In difficulty they are similar to a pregnancy test. This is also the case for our home sperm test which is easy to use and interpret. If you are in doubt about your result or how to test, we are always here to help. See our instruction video to see how easy it really is:

The ExSeed Home Sperm test tracks the same parameters that you would get in most clinics. These includes; volume (amount of semen), concentration (how many sperm cells you have per milliliter of semen, motility (the amount of moving sperm cells), and total motile sperm count (the total amount of moving sperm cells in one ejaculate). This is because the total motile sperm count is the one number that has been most highly associated with chance of pregnancy

What Counts As A Normal Volume And Concentration Range?

WHO anchors help you read the screen. A normal volume starts above 1.5 ml for the fluid ejaculated and a normal concentration starts above 15 million sperm per ml. Anything below those anchors might be called hypospermia for volume or flagged low for count.

Sperm quality varies naturally, which means that you may have a test that is not ideal on one day, but still have a normal sperm quality.

Several factors affect sperm quality including sickness. We therefore recommend you to test your semen quality twice. This should be more than one week apart and it would be good to test it again one month after. This is also what is recommended by the sperm testing guidelines of the WHO.

No problem. Wait, relax, try later. A calmer setting in your own home usually helps. If timing is tricky, discuss options with your partner. The Exseed home sperm test helps you stay on track.

We want to ensure your results are as easy to interpret as possible, and that core information is accessible all from one screen. We explain what’s new in this blog.

ExSeed’s Home Test has not been certified to assess whether there are no sperm cells present or the effectiveness of various methods of contraception, both temporary and permanent (like vasectomy). Therefore, we would not be able to provide a conclusive answer based on our home test. That being said, a relatively large number of people have used ExSeed to give an indication on whether there are live sperm cells present post-operation or in other circumstances.

In the app, there is a button you can click on to indicate you’ve had a vasectomy, which will make the Medical Team do an extra careful manual assessment (visual inspection) of the test as well.

Sperm quality plays a major role in whether IVF treatment is successful. On average, most couples go through 2.5 IVF cycles before achieving pregnancy, and each additional cycle can cost £7,000–£8,000 plus months of emotional strain.

Research suggests sperm quality can influence embryo development, but no test or lifestyle change can guarantee IVF success. Checking sperm health before treatment can help identify areas to discuss with your fertility team, and tracking results over time may support better-informed decisions.

With an at-home test like ExSeed, men can check their sperm health early and track improvements over time. Lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, sleep, or quitting smoking can lead to measurable improvements in just 3 months, giving IVF treatment a stronger foundation from the very start.
